Welcome to the 5th issue of CFHU’s JERUSALEM CALLING, a series of video reports from the 2019 Board of Governors (BOG) activities at Hebrew University.

This latest instalment features highlights from presentations by Honorary Doctorate recipients, Senator Linda Frum’s speech at HU’s tribute to those receiving honorary degrees this year, the 2019 Convocation, and CFHU’s annual dinner for Canadian supporters, students and other BOG attendees.

Honorary Doctorate recipients speak to BOG attendees

In a special session on HU’s Mount Scopus campus, several of this year’s Honorary Doctorate recipients shared highlights of their work. CFHU’s Robert Sarner spoke with two of them — one from the Netherlands, the other from Singapore — after their presentations.

Senator Linda Frum makes moving speech at HU tribute to Honorary Doctorate recipients

In a poignant ceremony in the Mexico Hall on the Mount Scopus campus, HU showcased the 11 distinguished men and women from around the world, including Canadian Senator Linda Frum, being honoured this year with an Honorary Doctorate in recognition of their achievements.

HU officially bestows Honorary Doctorates at annual convocation ceremony

At HU’s iconic Rothberg Amphitheatre on Mount Scopus, with the Dead Sea visible in the distance, the university formally presented Honorary Doctorates to this year’s recipients, as PhD students in the 2019 graduating class received their degrees in front of family and friends.

CFHU hosts annual dinner for Canadian friends and other BOG attendees

At the Begin Centre in Jerusalem, CFHU organized a special evening for its supporters of HU, scholarship recipients, HU associates and members of the CFHU-created Institute of Medical Research Israel-Canada (IMRIC), which just celebrated its 10th anniversary.
