Reflections on my time at HU

By Tamar Ribashvily, MBA, Toronto

At 17, I visited Israel for the first time with a group of school friends and fell in love. I was always enchanted with the history and beauty of Jerusalem and could not think of any other place I would prefer to live in. A few months later, on my own, I packed up my belongings and moved to Israel to go to Hebrew U in 1999 and stayed there until 2006! Over the next 7 years, I completed the Rothberg International School Program and a BA and Masters in International Relations, focusing on Political Economy and European Union Affairs.

Studying at HU had a tremendous impact on my life and my future career. Not only is it where I met my future Canadian husband, but after completing my studies, I was offered a position to join Israel’s Mission to the European Union where I worked alongside its diplomats on initiatives aimed at enhancing Israel’s working relationship and image with the Union of 27 European countries.

I now live in Toronto with my husband Jonathan, daughter Melody and son Leonard. I run a wealth management practice, together with Jonathan, at RBC Dominion Securities.

I recently co-founded Kef Switch, an NGO aimed at facilitating the exchange of homes between Canadian and Israeli families and strengthening the relationship between these communities.
