Reflections on my time at HU

By Randal Slavens, Toronto

I went to Hebrew U in 1994/95 on the 1-year program at the Rothberg International school and had an amazing experience which included the opportunity to travel in Kenya and Tanzania. This was the time of the Oslo negotiations and peace treaty with Jordan and I became fascinated with economic cooperation in the region as a peace building mechanism.

Upon returning to Canada I went on to write my Masters’ thesis on this topic. I subsequently returned to Israel in 1997 to work for Info-Prod Research, a Tel-Aviv based consulting firm specializing in Middle East economics research.

Since 2012, I have served on the Board of the Toronto Chapter of The Canadian Friends of the Hebrew University.
