Reflections on my time at HU

By Laurie May, Toronto

My brother had attended Hebrew U and he loved it, so I and one of my closet friends Lisi Tesher (also a 100 alumni nominee) signed up to go together on the one-year study abroad program in 1987-88. I still think of it as one of the best years of my life!

Being on the one-year program was an incredible experience, from living in Jerusalem to the interesting classes, lifelong friendships made and to amazing travel opportunities. One of the most interesting trips was the cultural legacy trip that took us to Poland Hungary and Austria. My Hebrew U experience led to other great things, from leading a summer program in Israel for students the following summer to being involved with the Israel Cancer Research Fund.

Overall it solidified a lifelong love and commitment to Israel and I am grateful that I had this amazing opportunity
