Reflections on my time at Hebrew U

By Lynn Kirshin, Toronto

I went on the Rothberg one-year program in 85/86. I went on a summer trip to Israel when I was 16 and the first thing I said to my parents when they picked me up from the airport was that I was going back to study there for a year at university. And I did! Upon my return to Toronto, I became more involved in the Toronto Jewish community by volunteering for CFHU’s Alumni Committee and assumed many leadership positions with the United Jewish Appeal within the young leadership.

Going to Hebrew U further intensified my love for and commitment to Israel. I have been back there 13 times since and have made life-long friends from my days at Rothberg with people from Toronto, Canada, the U.S, and Israel.

And oh ya, in my spare time, I am a Senior Policy Analyst in the Policy Department at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO), the regulatory body for physicians in Ontario, Canada. I am responsible for developing and reviewing CPSO policies that set out legal obligations and professional expectations for physicians practising in Ontario. Prior to joining the CPSO, I worked for 10 years at the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, in the areas of long-term care and health profession regulation.
