On October 29, 2019, CFHU, in partnership with the Duvdevan Foundation in Israel, brought in three representatives to speak to the Winnipeg Jewish community. The Foundation provides scholarships to veteran soldiers who wish to further their academic careers, helps sustain soldiers on active duty in the Duvdevan unit, supports bereaved family members who have lost a loved one in active combat, and enables Duvdevan veterans to transition back to civilian life.
Roey, Boaz and Yitzchak, all former soldiers in the Duvdevan anti-terror combat unit, told a packed room of over 65 rapt attendees about their lives in the unit and about their sometimes difficult transition into civilian life. Their stories captured the day-to-day reality of what these young men and women endure to protect Israel. CFHU was pleased to have the opportunity to partner with the Foundation for this wonderful event and was honoured to raise funds for scholarships for deserving soldiers.
