On October 18, 2018, Hebrew University’s highly esteemed law professor Ruth Gavison presented an enlightening view on Israel’s hotly contested ‘Nation State Law’ that was recently approved by the Knesset. In the latest in our Toronto series of events featuring Israeli trailblazers, Prof. Gavison, a former nominee for Israel’s Supreme Court and the recipient of numerous awards for her work, exhibited her wealth of knowledge about fundamental legal issues in Israel. During a spirited Q&A with CFHU’s Robert Sarner, she discussed a range of engaging topics, including the impact of Israel not having a constitution and whether the idea of Israel being a Jewish and democratic state is a contradiction in terms.
