Reflections on my time at Hebrew U

By Jenifer Lev, Toronto

I always knew I wanted to spend a year abroad studying in Israel. I was focused on a career in Jewish Education and thought it would be a great experience to study at Hebrew U. My program was in Toronto so going to Hebrew U was an amazing opportunity to be at school with my friends who went away to university as well as to make new friends.

I went on the One Year Program abroad at Rothberg from 1990-1991 – The year of the Gulf War. Many students from the U.S. left after the first semester as they were not sure what would happen politically and did not want to lose their year. All the Canadians came back after winter break and it went on to be an incredible experience!

Studying at Hebrew U enhanced my LOVE for Israel. It validated my desire and passion to enter the field of Jewish education. I met incredible people, studied with outstanding professors/educators and travelled to amazing places.
