Reflections on my time at HU

Bronwen Manning – Toronto

While I was an undergraduate studying Archaeology at the University of Cape Town, a Professor encouraged me to continue my studies abroad. I went to HUJI in 2010 and started in the One Year Program. Like most people, the one-year plan extended into a Masters Degree, and then the opportunity to do a PhD in Archaeology in 2018.

I found HUJI to be unlike any other University. The place where it rests and the people who walk its halls imbue a special life into its structure. The life lessons I acquired were not learned in the classroom, but rather the conversations with Professors and Students in the in between hours.

The sentiments expressed over and over again, where ones yearning for peace, striving for truth, and acting to make the world a better place. I was able to become apart of that story thanks to the financial support from the Canadian Friends of the Hebrew University through the Persiko Family Scholarship Fund. There is no finer gift than providing someone with the chance of an education.
