Monday, December 3 in the midst of a major snowstorm  over 100 guests braved the elements to honour both Lewis Dobrin and Monette Malewski.  Stephen Lipper event chair, spoke about Lewis the man, his devotion and passion to learning and his love of the Hebrew University.  Stephen presented Lewis with a gift from the Montreal Chapter in recognition and appreciation of his presidency.  Lewis responded with a passionate and warm speech reminising his seven years as President.

Monette spoke about her commitment to Israel, the Jewish people and to the Hebrew University, and then introduced our guest speaker Frederic Brenner renowned photographer. Brenner talked about his book "Diaspora: Homeland of the Exiles".  Photographs were shown of his twenty-five year odyssey traveling in 40 countries to search and create a visual record of the Jewish people at the end of the twentieth century.
