• Israel: Portrait of a Work in Progress is the creation of photographer Frédéric Brenner’s opus is Diaspora, the result of 25 years of searching in 40 countries to create a visual record of the Jewish people at the end of the twentieth century. Starting with the hope of recording vanishing Jewish communities before they disappeared, it became a probing pursuit of the multiplicity of dissonant identities of individuals, of Jews and of the Jewish people living among the nations.
• Born in Paris in 1959, he has a master’s degree in social anthropology from the École des Hautes Études en Science Sociales, Paris. In 1992, he won the Prix de Rome. He has had solo exhibitions at such major venues as the International Center of Photography in New York: Musée de l’Élysée, Lausanne; Bellas Artes, Mexico; Rencountre Internationale de la Photographie, Arles, among many other locations in various countries
