Soldier–Student Scholarship Events In Vancouver & Calgary

In July, CFHU’s Vancouver and Calgary chapters hosted highly successful TED Talk–style events. Four members of the IDF’s elite airborne rescue and evacuation Unit 669 told rapt audiences about the grueling and rewarding life in the unit.

The event helped educate Canadians about the academic, financial and social of challenges faced by students who are also reserve soldiers in Israel, and to raise funds to help these high-achieving citizens complete their education while serving their country.

Prof. Yaakov Nahmias, director of the Hebrew University’s new Center for Bioengineering, wowed the audience with a discussion of some of its developments, including 3-D printed dentures and bionic microorganisms.
