Happy Chanukah from CFHU

Netzer Maoz, Revivim
Netzer is 31 years old, one of seven siblings, and comes from Kibbutz Sde Eliyahu in Northern Israel. He is married to Tal, a criminal prosecutor and is father to two and half year old daughter, Nir.

Why Hebrew U?
"I knew that I wanted to be a teacher since the age of 19, so I looked for a place where I could study teaching. Revivim is what drew me to the university. I had heard great things about the program, and I was drawn to the fact that the program involves teaching in a school during the studies."

What are you studying?
"I am currently in my fourth year of studies, doing a combined bachelor's and master's degree. I teach history to 11th graders at Rene Cassin high school in Ramat Eshkol. In previous years I have taught biblical studies and Israeli culture. The program offers an amazing opportunity to start your first year out of studies with professional experience. When I complete the program I plan on returning to the North to teach."

What is your favorite holiday memory?
"When we were younger there was a torch race where all of the kids would run and pass the torch around in Emek Beit Shean. I fondly remember running in the rain! Another great memory is two years ago, my wife and I went on a sufganiya tour where we tried different bakeries in the Tel Aviv area and tasted two donuts from each."

What was a miracle that happened to you this year?
"This year my daughter started to speak. Her first word was “this one.” She is a girl who knows what she wants. Another miracle was surviving this year without sleep, while studying in Revivim, working 3 different jobs, and picking up my daughter from school 4 times a week."
