Shimon Peres at The Hebrew University

When former Israeli President Shimon Peres, z”l,  passed away on September 28th, Israel, the Jewish world, and the world-at-large lost a unique and important figure; one that will be greatly missed by all who yearn for peace.

He was a visionary, humanist, and true friend of The Hebrew University. Mr. Peres was a partner to our mission of scientific excellence and took personal interest in the advancement of Hebrew University research in the fields of nanotechnology and brain sciences. In 2015 The Hebrew University awarded him the Solomon Bublick Prize for Outstanding Service to the State of Israel, the pursuit of peace, higher education, and science and technology, and also conferred upon him an Honorary Doctorate in 1985.

UJA Federation of Greater Toronto and the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) with CFHU and other community organiztions, will be holding a community memorial for Shimon Peres, z”l on Thursday, October 20th at 7:30 p.m. at Beth Emeth Bais Yehuda Synagogue, 100 Elder St, Toronto.

We invite you, your family, and friends to join us in remembering this great statesman of Israel. His leadership and sage counsel will be sorely missed by all.
